Building Trust by Seeking Feedback

Your 1-on-1 sessions with your team members are the great opportunities to build deeper connection and trust. And one great way to build trust is to seek feedback about various aspects of work which is not always possible in other contexts such as team retrospectives.

Ask your team members to share their views about the organisation, team, ways of work as well as about yourself.

Be attentive, open and curious when you listen. They might give examples of other organisation, team or manager they worked with in the past. Ask exploratory questions to have a deeper understanding of their views. Also, ask for their own ideas and suggestions to change things or do things differently.

The valuable information from the regular feedback sessions will give you an up-to-date perspective about yourself and your work environment. Reflect on these. And take small actions regularly to build a better workplace.
